Front covers all separated from textblock; corners rounded; title clear on all vols, vol numbers legible. Sound bindings. Title page missing from V 1,5. Tempter's name in very old script in each volume, a few old lines in margins, bookseller notes in purple pencil unside the front cover of vol 1; otherwise unmarked. Demi basane du temps modeste .Papier à la colle sur les plats . Le tome 1 est relié avec les 120 premières pages du tomes 2 . Pages de titre du tome 2 La pages 121 a 216 reliés avant le tome 3 . Le relieur n'a pas jugé utile de mettre le faux titre et la page de titre de la 3 eme partie puisqu'il reliait en deux volumes. quelques salissures en haut a droite du titre et des 4 premiers feuillets du tome 1 , peu perceptible en marge haute du tome 2. Une autrice de la fin du XVIIIe à redécouvrir. Ce premier roman de Fanny Burney est paru sous couvert d'anonymat en 1778 en Anglais, de même cette première traduction française anonyme par Renfner paru dès 1779 et qui semble fort rare. Cette autrice annonçait le romantisme de Maria Edgeworth ou Jane Austen. L'avant propos nous informe "Le vice y est peint avec les couleurs odieuses qui lui sont propres" Barbier ouvrage anonyme tome 2 333 Exemplaire dans sa modeste mais solide reliure de l'époque.
