Pages are moderately tanned with a few small nicks and water drops along text block edge. Minor dog-eared corners. Occasional thumb-marking present throughout. Plates are moderately tanned. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with notable bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light tanning to spine and edges, with visible crushing to spine ends. Book has a prominent forward lean.

Top edge slightly foxed, o/w fine in good price-clipped dustjacket with some small professionally closed tears and a couple small restored pieces at the head and tail of the spine (not affecting lettering or illustration). A classic Twentieth Century book of exploration, now becoming uncommon in the attractive dustjacket. The story of Fawcett, who disappeared with two companions in the Matto Grosso region of Central Brazil in 1925, is here arranged from his manuscripts, letters, log-books, and records by his son Brian Fawcett. Illustrated with b/w maps and photographs.
