Newcastle; Frank Graham, [1973]. [viii] + 144 pp. With numerous illustrations. Publisher's cloth with pictorial dustjacket. Very fine. With name index and a list of books by Crawhall. "Newcastle has produced two of the greatest of English wood-engravers, Thomas Bewick and Joseph Crawhall. The work of Thomas Bewick is internationally recognized but Joseph Crawhall is known only to a small number of people who appreciate the remarkable books he produced during the nineteenth century. Dr. Felver has written the first biography of Joseph Crawhall and examined his achievement. This book will undoubtedly help to bring a deeper understanding of one of the greatest of English artists."
