Illustrated with 49 photogravures, all with tissue guards intact and a color fold-out map of the rail-roads of London at rear of volume II. A history of the city of London from its beginnings as Roman Londinium [first century AD] to the reign of Edward VII. No previous ownership marks. Dust-jackets are age soiled and darkened. White linen covers show old damp-staining to heels of spine, not affecting interior. Inner hinges show some cracking to paper, albeit hinges are strong and solidly attached. Text block in both volumes deckle edged, and partially unopened. Text is clean and all plates are in excellent condition. A sound, square, internally clean set of this deluxe edition.
