Aegidius (Gillis) Francken (1676-1743) was a Dutch reformed preacher. He studied theology in Leiden and wrote several theological books. He wrote this book as an aid with cathechesis.

The History of the Passion of the Savior Jesus. Aegidius (Gillis) Francken (1676-1743) was a Dutch Reformed minister and author of edifying theological works. Francken belonged to the movement of the Further Reformation. His father Hendrik was a minister, while his mother Catharina van Esch came from an old noble family. From 1694 onwards he studied theology at Leiden University. In 1705 Francken became a pastor in Rijsoord and in 1713 in Maassluis. There he stayed until his death in 1743.
