Original Wraps. Etat : Poor. 24 cm. Unpaged, but around 24 pages. An extraordinary booklet. The Seminary was extant in Osage from around 1870 to early in the 20th century. This is Vol. I, No. II. OCLC does not list any locations for this bulletin, but the catalog entry notes that it is based on Vol. II, which means this is likely the earliest known copy of the catalog. This edition features several full page photographs of Seminary activities, including "Board of Editors for the 'Sem Eyte'", "Seminary Faculty for 1898-99", "Class of '71", "Class of '99", "The Foot Ball Team, Season of '98'", "Base Ball Team, Season of '99", "Cedar Valley Seminary Buildings" and several more. Following general descriptions of the Seminary and its activities is a three page section entitled "From Hamlin Garland". It begins with "Alumni Editors - In response to your inquiry I give the following brief account of my doings since leaving the Seminary in 1881.". Garland then gives a two-page biography, chiefly of his literary accomplishments in that 18 year period. This biography is followed by his signature, dated Apr 11/99 in his hand. The Bulletin is whole and complete, but has suffered several indignities in the last century: There is a penciled name on the front cover, the front upper corner is dog-eared into the first few pages, the cover is worn and dirty. A unique item in spite of its condition. Signed by Author(s).
