Cet ouvrage de Gaubius, élève renommé de Boerhaave, ?peut être considéré comme le premier traité de pathologie générale, et c'est à lui que revient l'honneur d'avoir donné le premier des règles pour formuler? Editio tertia.- Leidae Batavorum: Samuel et Johannem Luchtmans, 1781.- [12 h.], 574 p.; 4º menor (20,5 x 13 cm.); Buena impresión sobre excelente papel verjurado; Plena Piel época, tejuelo rojo. Cubiertas y lomo fatigados, especialmente en el lomo y los bordes, donde incluso faltan algunos trozos de piel, aunque ha sido restaurado en lo posible, también tiene una ligera mancha de humedad en el margen inferior de las primeras hojas, por lo demás el interior en muy buen estado. El autor nacido en Heidelberg (1705-1780), estudió en las Univs. de Harderwijk y Leiden. Fue pupilo de Hermann Boerhaave (1668-1735) y de Bernhaed Siegfried Albinus (1697-1770). Se graduó con una tesis sobre medicina psicosomática. Más tarde siguió sus estudios en París y en 1731 fue invitado a Leiden por Bernhaave como lector de química en la Universidad. Esta que ofrecemos es una de sus más famosas obras, cuya 1ª Ed. data de 1758, y fue texto obligado durante muchos años tras su muerte.
