Grand in-4 de 195 pages. Le texte est celui du manuscrit d'Oxford, XII ème siècle, dans sa traduction en français moderne établie en 1872 par Léon Gauthier et il est imprimé dans de beaux et larges encadrements en couleurs dans le style des miniatures. Les illustrations de Jean-François Mincet ont été mises en couleurs à la main. Tirage limité à 950 exemplaires. Un des 60 exemplaires sur vélin chiffon de Lana auquel est joint : deux pages de croquis signées par l'illustrateur, une suite du dessin au trait de toutes les illustrations et une planche en pleine page encadrée et signée par l'illustrateur. Notre exemplaire porte le numéro LV. Certificat d'authenticité joint. Superbe reliure d'éditeur de grand luxe vert-olive. Les plats sont richements ornés : sur le premier, d'une plaque en creux du portrait de Roland en pieds dans un encadrement de motifs à froid et dorés, sur le second de l'épée de Roland dans un encadrement de même. Dos à larges nerfs orné de motifs à froid. La suite dans son portefeuille remplié de papier blanc, légendée est dans son portefeuille de soie moirée avec dos lisse . Etui bordé de même et recouvert de soie moirée. Le tout en parfait état. La Chanson de Roland est un poème épique et une chanson de geste du XIe siècle attribuée parfois, sans certitude, à Turold (la dernière ligne du manuscrit dit : Ci falt la geste que Turoldus declinet). Neuf manuscrits nous sont parvenus, dont un, le manuscrit d'Oxford du début du XIIe siècle, le plus ancien et le plus complet, est en anglo-normand. Ce dernier, identifié en 1835, est considéré par les historiens comme le manuscrit d'autorité. C'est donc lui que l'on désigne quand on parle sans autre précision de la Chanson de Roland. La Chanson de Roland comporte quatre mille deux vers (dans sa version la plus ancienne ; elle en compte neuf mille dans un manuscrit de la fin du XIIIe siècle) en ancien français répartis en laisses assonancées, transmises et diffusées en chant par les troubadours et jongleurs. Elle s'inspire, trois siècles après, du combat fatal dans les Pyrénées du chevalier Roland, préfet de la Marche de Bretagne et de ses compagnons d'armes contre une force toujours identifiée avec difficulté, possiblement des Basques.
