Laid in is a printed card with information about the book and its publication (promotional?). It states that there were 750 copies printed. Signed by Author.

A very fine copy, mostly uncut, with pictorial dust jacket. The first biography of one of the pioneer "overlanders" with the Bartleson-Bidwell group in 1841. He made several trips across the prairies, including one in which he acted as escort to Frémont's children, was active in the Bear Flag Revolt, and became a prominent landowner in the Napa Valley.
