La prima edizione de 'L'Hore di ricreatione' venne stampata ad Anversa nel 1568 e si può dire che Guicciardini dedicò il resto della sua vita alla revisione, ampliamento e ristampa dell' opera. Antica firma di possesso al front. LGB.

Testo arricchito da capilettera ornati e testatine incise. Esemplare completo e genuino. Pregiata edizione di questo curioso libro pieno di piacevoli episodi e divertenti facezie. La prima edizione de L Hore di ricreatione venne stampata ad Anversa nel 1568 e si può dire che egli dedicò il resto della sua vita alla revisione, ampliamento e ristampa dell opera. L opera, data alle stampe a Venezia in versione pirata da Francesco Sansovino, appartiene al genere delle facezie e dei detti memorabili, tornati in auge nel Quattrocento e Cinquecento. Amplissimo è il panorama delle fonti che concorrono a formare l'opera, sia classiche sia della tradizione toscana e umanistica. Lodovico Guicciardini, nipote del grande storico di Francesco Guicciardini e storico egli pure, nacque a Firenze. Dopo aver soggiornato qualche tempo a Genova, passò gran parte della sua vita all estero. Nel 1550 aveva già stabilito la sua dimora nelle Fiandre e dal 1565 alla morte, avvenuta il 22 marzo 1589, lo troviamo ad Anversa, ove fu sepolto onorevolmente nella Cattedrale, presso il coro grande.

HERTOGDOM LUXEMBURG "Lutzenburgensis Ducatus Veriss Descript." Kopergravure vervaardigd door Pieter van der Keere (Petrus Kaerius) naar het ontwerp van Jacques Surhon, uitgegeven door Ludovico Guicciardini te Amsterdam in 1609. Later (') met de hand gekleurd. Afm.: ca. 23,5 x 31 cm. In tegenstelling tot bijna alle andere gewesten van de Habsburgse Nederlanden waren er in Luxemburg betrekkelijk weinigcalvinisten. Luxemburg bleef deBeeldenstormdan ook bespaard en bleef het tijdens tijdens de Tachtigjarige Oorlog op de achtergrond. Door de afstand van de andere Nederlanden en door de omstandigheid dat Luxemburg door het prinsbisdom Luik afgescheiden was van de andere Nederlanden, had het een eigen identiteitsbesef en was het in zichzelf gekeerd. Het gewest bleef Spaans- of koningsgezind. Zo werd dePacificatie van Gent(1576) niet door het hertogdom getekend. Luxemburg bleef een uiterst handig steunpunt voor het Spaanse leger, vooral in de jaren 1576-1579. In 1593 vielen de hertog vanBouillonen deStaatselegeraanvoerderFilips van Nassau Luxemburg binnen, maar stadhouder Peter Ernst I van Mansfeld kon bezetting van het gebied voorkomen. Ruim 40 jaar na het verschijnen van deze kaart, bij de Vrede van Münster in 1648, werd het het hertogdom Luxemburg ingedeeld bij de Spaanse Nederlanden. Prijs: Euro 275,-.

No legatura. Etat : buono. Dalla seconda edizione della "Descrittione di tutti i Paesi Bassi", edita ad Anversa nel 1581. Incisione in rame all acquaforte, b/n, cm 23,3 x 31,3 (alla lastra). Bella pianta della città di Lille, con due stemmi, in alto a destra e a sinistra, e un piccolo e ricco cartiglio, in basso a sinistra; animata da personaggi in costume. Testo italiano al verso con grandi capilettera istoriati e titolo entro cornice. Ludovico Guicciardini, anche noto come Louis Guischardin (Firenze, 1521 Anversa, 1589 circa) fu uomo politico, geografo e letterato. Rivestì numerosi incarichi per conto di Cosimo I e, dopo un periodo di intensi viaggi, si stabilì definitivamente ad Anversa. Accumulò una ricca documentazione per dare stesura alla "Descrittione di tutti i Paesi Bassi" (1567), la più importante delle sue opere storico geografiche su questo paese, nella quale egli racconta gli eventi storici cui ivi assistette, con una metodica descrizione delle diciassette province in cui allora il territorio era diviso (fra le descrizioni delle città più importanti Anversa figurava come modello). La prima edizione di questa cronaca (Anversa, Guglielmo Siluro, 1567, in fiammingo); la seconda (Anversa, Christofano Plantino, 1581, in italiano e francese). Esemplare in pieni margini e in bella impressione, buono lo stato di conservazione.
