Hardback. Etat : Very Good. First Edition. 1935. First edition. 47pp. James Henry Hallard (born 1861) was a scholar and writer, probably best known for his translation of 'The Idylls of Theocritus'. This book is a collection of 26 poems, the first 10 of which relate to the Tweed and Borders of Scotland. The remaining 16 consist of 10 more general poems, some of which are war poems, and the last 6 are translations. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear on the boards and light bumping to the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with some scattered foxing. The foxing is mostly light although the first few pages, including the title page, are a bit more heavily foxed. There is also foxing to the fore edge of the text block and on some pages this has seeped a little way into the fore margin. A name and date (1955) has been written on the front free endpaper.
