First Edition. clean copy, top edge tinted very pale faded blue, front edge of slightly spotty with age, offset tanning of the tables of the front and rear end pages, and faint foxing of the first few pages of the book. the book has a chronology of agriculture, industry, trade and finance, and social organisation from the year 1000 A.D. through two 1700 A.D. on the front and rear endpapers. It is otherwise under illustrated. The book does continue past 1700, all the way through to contemporary society (1930s) where looks at the economic effects of the great War, and the crisis of 1929-31, the general strike et cetera et cetera. Bound in stiff, printed wraps, saddle stapled. An exhibit catalog for the seminal show at COCA, summer, 1996. Curators Hammond and Lord entered a shallow history of exhibits of lesbian art. Cited are the 1978 "A Lesbian Show" (112 Greene Street Place, New York), "The Great American Lesbian Art Show" (Woman's Building, Los Angeles, 1980), and "All But the Obvious" (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE), 1990). Both curators present solid, well researched essays.

A fine original colour lithograph from Vanity Fair, a magazine which was published from 1869-1914, featuring a large caricature portrait each week. These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mounted/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a portrait of Lord Hammond, with the caption ''Foreign Policy'' with a one page biographical sheet. Edmund Hammond, 1st Baron Hammond (1802-1890).
