Sir Alan Patrick Herbert was an English humorist, novelist, playwright, law reformist, and from 1935-1950 an Independent Member of Parliament for Oxford University. Autograph letter signed, dated 22nd January, '29, with letterhead of A. P. Herbert, 12, Hammersmith Terrace, W.6: 'Dear Mr. (Kenyon I.) Abbott, (Esq.): Many thanks for sending me your amusing poems, and best of luck to you in this difficult and dangerous profession. Yours, sincerely, A. P. Herbert.' Handwritten address on vberso. Tanning to postcard.
