Tall octavo, original cloth boards with marbled sides, b&w illus. Includes numerous b&w illustrations by George Cruikshank and three folding plates, ex-library, with some stamps in text and faint library call number lower spine stains to margin of 'Despotism' title page. Ffep removed. Pencilled inscription fep. All publications early editions dated between 1817 and 1821. Bound as "Political Papers". Good condition. Satirical works by the radical writer and bookseller. In addition to the Man in the Moon and other titles listed above, also includes The Form of Prayer,The Right Divine of Kings to Govern Wrong?, A Slap at Slop, numerous spurious 'advertisements' including 'Victory at Peterloo', 'The Spirit of Despotism dedicated to Lord Castlereagh', and also bound in a pamplet published by R. Carlile (another radical publisher) of the 'Republican Office': 'The Bullet Te Deum; with the Canticle of the Stone', dated 1817.
