A fine original colour lithograph from Vanity Fair, a magazine which was published from 1869-1914, featuring a large caricature portrait each week. These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mounted/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a portrait of Sir James Hudson, with the caption "Ill-Used". With accompanying biographical details.

Paper. Etat : Good. First Edition. An Original Handwritten Letter Signed by Sir James Hudson to Levi Leone. Dated 1867. A letter regretting that he cannot see Leone Levi during his trip to Florence. Sir James Hudson 1810-1885 was a British diplomat. He is noted for his time as British ambassador to Turin between 1852 and 1863, as an italophile and strong supporter of Italian unification, and a collector of Italian art. Levi Leone, 1821-1888. English jurist and statistician. His chief work, History of British Commerce and of the Economic Progress of the British Nation, 1763-1870, is considered to be a partisan account of British economic development. Size is 205mm x 130mm. Condition is good. Light folding creases. Age toning. More images can be taken upon request. Ref17153. Signed by Author(s).
