Hardcover. Blue cloth with white, color-illustrated dustjacket. appx. 90 pp. 17 color, 56 bw plates. Very uncommon. Color plates are tipped-in. Text in English and Japanese. Plates are followed by a listing of the plates and a chronology. Illustrates paintings, drawings and lithographs. The exhibition was held March 20-April 25, 1954. Spine title is Yasuo Kuniyoshi on both the dustjacket and the book itself, as well as along the cardboard slipcase. VG+/VG dj has a small tear at base and mild soiling, cardboard slipcase browned but present and tight.

The English introduction has minor pencil underlining. Hardcover binding with minor shelfwear. The unclipped dustjacket is moderately sunned on the spine, with several small tears and creases, and moderate shelfwear and minor soiling. The original slipcase is heavily rubbed and worn but remains intact. First edition. Size: Folio. Book.

Yasuo Kuniyoshi (1893-1953) was a Japanese-American painter, photographer and printmaker, helped found the Woodstock School in Woodstock New York, and though most often associated with landscapes, also painted women later in his career; many of those portraits are included here. A very good copy, extremities rubbed, owner's blind stamp on endpaper and half-title. No dust jacket.
