Though written as an introduction to the stock exchange for the incipient stockbroker, The Stock Exchange is not overly technical and therefore remains accessible to the general public. Ingall and Withers illuminate the inner workings of the Stock Exchange, tracing 'the Stock Exchange bargain from the client to the broker, and through the broker to the jobber, up to the final adjustment of the transaction between the original buyer or seller and the ultimate deliverer or purchaser at the Stock Exchange Settlement' (p.iii).
