Erste Ausgabe. "The Lithuanian photographer Izis was another of those remarkable émigrés from eastern Europe who moved to Paris in the 1930s and thus graced French photojournalism. His book on the French circus, published in 1965, but bearing the stamp of an earlier era, is the best of his extensive bibliography - partly because of his ability to make so much of a clichéd subject, and partly because it is such a splendid book object" (Parr/Badger, The Photobook, vol. I, p. 222). - Schönes Exemplar.
