Octavo, pp. [1-4] [1-6] 7-277 [278-280: blank] [note: first and last leaves are blanks], original decorated gray cloth, front and spine panels stamped in brown, publisher's windmill device stamped in brown on rear panel, bottom edge untrimmed. First edition. Mixed collection of seven stories including fantasy tale "The Vermilion Apollo," visit of heathen god to respectable English parish, and a number of other tales that are tragic or horrific. The author was the grandniece of Alfred Lord Tennyson. Some soiling and staining to cloth, latter mostly to rear panel, else a very good copy. (#112412).
