Etat : Fair. 1855. No Edition Remarks. 583 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth. Contains black and white illustrations throughout. Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper and pastedown. Thumb-marking present. Grubby pages throughout. Noticeable creasing to gutter. Cracking to hinges and gutters, leaving netting exposed. Boards have heavy edge-wear with bumping to corners, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Some crushing to spine ends. Heavy tanning to spine and edges. Splits to spine ends. Water staining to boards. Notable marks overall. Textblock is shaky.

Etat : Fair. 1847. A New Edition. 100 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth with debossed decoration to front and rear, and gilt titles to front. New Edition, adapted by Dr Gregory and C V Walker. Pages have slight foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Trace of price sticker to front pastedown. Faint brown smudges to pp11-14. Black smudges to rear endpaper and pastedown. Very minor split to front hinge. Text block edges are a little tanned and slightly uneven. Minor brown marks to pages. Text remains readable. Boards have heavy edge wear, with bumping and fraying to corners, while spine ends are crushed and frayed with some small area of loss. Joints worn with split starting to front lower joint. Rubbed and marked overall, with faint brown stains front and rear. Gilt is bright.

Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean.

In a full calf leather binding with a gilt crest to the front board. Externally, worn. Backstrip is missing. Front board is detached, but present. Rear board is held by cords only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with some scattered light foxing, and some minor age-toning and browning. There is a bookplate to the front board. Fair. book.
