Hardcover. Etat : Fine. First Edition. Thick 8vo. Pp. xlv; 463; followed by 7 pp. list of previous volumes in the series. Frontispiece. Illustrated with maps and b&w reproductions. With a "Biographical Directory." Appendix (Warren correspondence published elsewhere). Index. Bound in dark blue linen with gilt device on cover, and gilt lettering stamped on spine. A superlative copy. Peter Warren, a New Yorker, so to speak (he built a mansion in Greenwich Village overlooking the Hudson, leveled in 1865), was born in Dublin, 1703. His naval career, while lucrative in capturing prize ships, is highlighted by the then-Commodore Warren's participation in the capture of French-held fort Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, in 1745. He was eventually promoted to Rear Admiral of the Blue, and given a knighthood. B.
