Hardcover. Etat : Near Fine. Paintings by Farideh Golbahar; Photographs by Avraham Hai and Yoram Hofshi (illustrateur). 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). In English and Hebrew. What a rare book. Once listed, it will be the Only copy for sale anywhere on the Internet. And it is signed, signed by the artist Farideh Golbahar (the inscription is on the gray first front end paper and reads simply 'with love farideh'). And, finally, the book is in pristine condition. As you can see from the photos, the beautiful covers are exceptionally clean. The corners and edges are in excellent shape. The white (and pink) lettering is bright. The spine looks perfect. The page edges are perfectly clean. The book is square and very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. As mentioned, the inside covers and end papers are gray. They are perfectly clean and free of wear. And those words accurately describe all of the pages in the book. I'm not seeing any soiling and I'm not seeing any wear. No creasing. No markings. No attachments. And with the exception of the artist's signature, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. The four-page introduction is titled Fields of Flowers and Contemplation. It is written by Hagai Segev. Here's a section of it: 'The quest for intrinsic meaning or narrative power in Farideh's work confronts the viewer with an intellectual challenge. The paintings' impact stems mainly from their emotional strength. They operate in a distinctly intuitive matter. At the same time, one is made acutely aware that these paintings result from a calculated, meticulous and rational process. In this rich process Farideh applies layers upon layers of dots and fields of paint until the paper is completely covered. In recent years she has set out to decode the infinite repetition inherent in abstract art. An echo reverberates on the paper in a gradually expanding variation. The pressure to complete the infinite landscape depiction is also the pressure of time, the need to manage and illustrate the non-demonstrable, and the eternally unreachable. In fact, her works are endless variations on a single theme that will never come to exhaustion.' From the art critic, Timothy Warrington: 'Farideh Golbahar is a highly refined and exquisitely talented artist. The elements that constitute Farideh?s creativity are not simple and there is no attempt to strike, surprise or shock the viewer. Rather, one is pleasantly introduced to an intensely delicate touch empowered by a rich and exquisitely complex approach to execution and composition. Historically speaking, there are fascinating juxtapositions and diverse influences from numerous traditions that come together for analysis, challenged and uniquely interpreted in the conception of Farideh's work. Her artistic roots are deep and variegated in a broad understanding of art history that incorporates the magnificence of the Persian Miniature, a timeless tradition that itself was enriched by Eastern culture through the Mongol conquest, as well as tangible aspects of French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Parallels can be drawn between Farideh and Monet, as well as Pissarro, in relation to certain elements of her brushwork and the technique utilized to capture light and movement. Interestingly, further comparisons can also be made with post-impressionists such as Seurat and even Van Gogh, not to mention mention Dufy's textile creations. There is a unique sensuality in Farideh's creative process and a wonderful component is the perfect juxtaposition between different artistic approaches in a single artwork. In fact, the viewer is often confronted with self-contained quadriptych artworks that radiate elegance and sophistication composed of numerous artistic approaches presented as one idea and a single interlinked visual journey, although well defined, with no finite beginning and no discernible end.'.
