Hardcover. Etat : Good. No Jacket. 1950, x, 317pp, index. Light wear, else G. Henry Louis Mencken, (1880-1956), often referred to as the "Sage of Baltimore," was a newspaperman, editor, and author, known largely for his attacks on Puritanism, conservatism, religion and politics, or whatever you might hold dear. But he was a prolific author, his writings covering many subjects: biography, poetry, etymology, literary criticism, philosophy, etc. Critics credit him with skill at satire, but they also call attention to his intolerance, frequent crudity, and misinformation.
