Bright gold gilt on spines, leather spines & corners, marbled boards, endpages & fore edges, 4 raised ribs on spines, illustrated, good binding, clean bodies and unmarked texts. General shelf wear, vol. 4 spine leather looks to have maybe been in a damp area, vol. 1 has small chip in spine leather, vol. 3 front board edges has small chip in it, else, nice. A handwritten label is on the spine tail with author, title, voume number, and date. Spine ends worn, crown frayed (vols. 1-2, 4) and board edges bumped (vol. 4). Rear endpage cracked at lower corner of vol. 2, and middle free edge of vol. 4. Clear wrapping torn about 4" up from spine tail of vol. 3, label has fallen off; wrapping chipped at crown of vol. 4.
