S.l. (Paris) , P. Alex le Prieur, 1761, in-8°, (4) nn pp + 531 pp, old marbled boards, spine damaged with top of spine missing, gilt title label. The book supports the demand of Lioncy firm that the Jesuits reimburse one and a half million pounds. This refers to the trade actions of Father Antoine de La Valette on the island of Martinique. In 1753 , without the consent of his superiors, he founded a trading company which went bankrupt after its ships were seized by the English. This in turn led to the bankrupcy of the Marseille trading company Lioncy Frères et Gouffre. This company started a lawsuit before the Paris court , not only against Father La Valette and his Martinique Jesuits but also against the Paris Jesuits. Rare, no copy in the BN Paris. (See Gazin pp. 274 , Higgs 2484 , De Backer Sommervogel XI - 1775-11).
