An originating air armaments group of the USA American Expeditionalry Forces, World War I, the 2nd was under the command of Col F.P Lahm, J.M.A.and Col John F, Curry, Chief of Staff. The 2nd Air Service roster included units for Construction, Photography, Pursuit, Bombardment, Observation and Balloons. Personalization page: "Thomas E Evans, 278th A.S, Toul, France". 278th Aero Squadron served out of and shipped over from Love Field, Dallas, Texas. It was the last aero group assigned to the front lines, and was in the air through Armistice Day.
