Etat : Good. 1927. No edition remarks. 160 pages. No dust jacket. Blue cloth covered boards with gilt. Colour and black and white illustration plates. Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Binding remains firm. Previous owner's name to front pastedown. Boards have light shelf wear with minor corner bumping and crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering to spine is slightly dulled. Some mild marks and staining to surfaces. Boards are slightly bowed.

If you know what cotton reels, printing stick, penny rubbers and Japan gold size are, you probably don't need this book. On the other hand, if you want to try printing your own patterns on glass, cloth or metal using such common HOUSEHOLD articles as empty thread spools or carved wine corks - this is your ticket. 90 pages w/ book adverts at back. Illustrations are b/w photos BUT esp. b/w drawings (very clear). Cond : Buff coloured boards w/ green spine band. Black lettering on face. D.J. missing. Light wear at spine tips. Binding tight, boards square. Much yellowed, but little soiled. No names, marks, tears nor folds. Almost giftable. Quote (p. 49) : " The adhesive medium used for bronze printing may be either ordinary Japan gold size, obtainable from an oil or colour shop; or a specially prepared washable medium used for bronze stencilling, obtainable from an artists' colourman. If neither . ." Size: 12mo.

Decorated beige/black hardback with green cloth to spine & its surrounds - slightly blemished/foxed/minimally edge "nicked"/green cloth fraying at spine ends - in slightly blemished/worn/torn/chipped/piece missing/sellotape repaired DJ. xi + 90pp.+ 14 pages advertising other Pitman publications. There is a colour frontispiece as well as many b/w textual illustrations. Top page corners mildly "dog-eared". Inscription of former owner on inside front cover. Other than DJ, particularly considering its 90+ years age, a Good copy.
