Hardcover with dust jacket in fair condition with moderate wear to corners, head and tail of spine (tiny tearing) and 1 1/4 inch tear to top front edge and two 3/4 inch tears to front bottom and back bottom edges. Discolorations and fading noted to jacket. Tissue paper lining dust jacket, with some tears noted. Covers in good condition with brown cloth with red and gold design to front and red and gold design and lettering to spine. Pages yellowing with age but very readable. The theme of this extraordinary book is the vast virgin forst of North America and the attempt of the French and the English to settle there. Eyewitness accounts, vivid and exciting, breathing the freshness of the events, gives a clear impression of what life here was lie--only seventy years after Columbus landed. There are 64 water colors all reproduced in their original colors as well as many many other illustrations.
