Cloth. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. First Edition. Hardcover. First Edition. The British Motorist. A Celebration in Pictures by Lord Montague of Beaulieu. Very slight shelf wear to edge of D/J. This superbly illustrated book celebrates the history of the 'horseless carriage' in Lord Montague's inimitable style. The Rolls-Royce and the Jaguar, the Morris Minor and the Land-Rover define the era in which they first took to the road, and Lord Montague's insighjts into the cars and the men who invented them are characteristicallu perceptive. The motorists are all here too: from Frederick R. Simms and his extraordinary Military Quaricycle to Field Marshal Montgomery with his stately Humber and Peter Sellers, proud owner of a most exotic version of the Mini. A splendid array of posters, paintings and photographs from the National Motor Museum Archives complement Lord Montague's engaging anecdotes in a book that is a must for motoring enthusiasts everywhere. Illustrated. 207 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. Academic and Scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Educational Reference Literature.).

Full-Leather. Etat : Poor. First introduced in 1905, Sub-titled: "An Encyclopaedia of Motoring". This Volume was issued annually for the Motorist, as the essential aid for travelling. In very much the same way as the A.A & R.A.C. handbooks of later years, but in altogether more magnificent style & content with around 600 pages of text including some wonderful period adverts for motor-freindly hotels and garages. A delightful item and perhaps a fine accessory for a VCC member to reside on the back seat of a suitable Edwardian car? In generally poor condition even for its age . It's leather bound and the leather has dried.split and cracked at the seams and edges . The front cover is partly detatched and andthough it's tuck-in flap at the back is still attached, if a little fragile and the small compas originally set into the top of this flap is missing. Inside the back cover is a pouch which would have contained a linen-backed road map of Great Britain when originally issued but this is missing. The binding is boor, slack and fragile. Priced to reflect all this general trauma.
