Selection of various English, American, Spanish and other continental ballads; 'A New edition, with several new ballads' (title page). Originally published in Great Britain in 1849 (see Halkett & Laing, I, 216; with the pseudonymous editor spelled 'Bon Gualtier'); includes a few illustrations from the previous issue (by Alfred Crowquill and Richard Doyle, also according to Halkett & Laing). A good copy with sunning and wear to spine (principally at head and foot); slight rubbing and browning to covers; slight bumping to corners; ex-library label on front attached endpaper; previous bookseller's printed label on front free endpaper; previous owner's ink signature and date on front free endpaper; slight starting to few signatures; slight internal browning and/or foxing to few leaves; else a fairly serviceable copy of an early American issue.Few Engraved Illustrations (vignettes).
