Octavo stapled light card wrapper (VG): all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. Ordering more than one book will reduce your overall postage cost.

hardcover, 6½" x 9¾", with dust jacket 176 pages In 1919, before he was twenty, the author set out to Samoa to take up a junior clerk's position with the administration. He rose to senior rank amid the slow ferment of Samoan nationalism, and with his deep affection for the Samoan people, and a profound knowledge of Samoan language, customs and history, he contributed perhaps more than any other European to Samoa's smooth transition from colonial status to independence. This is also the story of New Zealand's record as an honest and enlightened (if inexperienced) colonial power. Packed with anecdotes. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, and barcode. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket.
