Hardcover. Etat : Good. Etat de la jaquette : Poor. 1st Edition. This book is in Afrikaans throughout. The handsome dustjacket has been sadly eaten away by age and storage. It has much wear, tear, foxing and marking. All extremities have wear - particularly at the dj spine edges which have splits and wounds. The bodies of the dj front and back covers are foxed and marked by unfortunate storage and handling. The spine has wear to the head and foot. However, the large photograph of the first staff of the school, on the cover is curiously enhanced by this and is atmospheric and clear. The paper trim edges and the front and back pages have foxing and discolouration. The contents are generally good with robust, clear pages which may be read with confidence and ease. fk. Hardcover. Etat : Good. No Jacket. First Edition. 109 pages (complete). In Afrikaans throughout. A resolute copy. The dustjacket is much worn, scarred, marks all about from storage and shelving. It is complete and comfortable. The boards are simple, benign. They have light shelving wear to the edges. Within, the contents are passive. They have blotches of foxing about, particularly about the trims. However, the contents are by far, clean, clear, dutiful, careful, tidy. fk. Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. 1st Edition. Fiftieth anniversary large-format history of one of South Africa's more extraordinary schools. The alumni read like a Who's Who of public life at the time and include the likes of Johannes Meintjes, Anna Louize Conradie, Marais Viljoen and Eschel Rhoodie. The very striking DJ is rubbed at the edges and has a few small white flecks where loss has occurred - the moreso at the back. The boards are clean and undamaged. There is a damp stain to the ffep outer top corner but this has not carried through to the ensuing pages. The binding is sound. There is some light uniform browning to the endpapers but the contents are unmarked and undiscoloured. The ffep has been signed by the author as well as by six others including the headmaster at the time, JH Uys, and a previous headmaster, HA Lambrechts. 109pp. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Etat : Good. Etat de la jaquette : Good. 1st Edition. Inscribed on the title page to prev owner by "JH Uys (Skoolhoof, 1969-1980)". There are a further 23 signatures to the title page including those of the author, various alumni and former members of staff and Marais Viljoen, State President at the time of signing in 1983. Many of the signatures have time frames attached to them (eg. JL Schoeman 1940-1971) presumably indicating period of association with the school. The boards are clean with very mild bumping to the corners. The plastic protected dustwrapper is rubbed at the edges and has a bit of surface loss to the back wrap. There is fairly severe insect damage to the top few cm. of the spine obliterating most of the titling. The inside flaps of the dw have brown sellotape marks as do the pastedowns and the facing pages. There is a newspaper article attached to the front pastedown and another attached to the ffep. Loosely inserted are a longish article on the school from the Cape Argus 1959 and a 16 x 20cm b/w print showing a classroom scene. Unfortunately no further details are provided. There is a brown damp stain to the top inner corner affecting the prelims and the last nine leaves. There is a very little bit of light pencil annotation of an informative nature to the contents and a particularly pungent longer observation in pencil to p. 31. 220 x 280mm. 109pp profusely illus. in b/w. All in all a most interesting volume. Signed by Author(s).
