Covers slightly sunned at edges. Dust jacket split at folds, chipped, tears, poor. 121901A "First published in Vilna in the year 1873, The Nag is one of the best examples of the work of the celebrated Yiddish writer who won fame under the pen-name of Mendele the Book Peddler. One hundred years ago, Mendele was well known to the Jews of Russia and Poland as a man who traveled from town to town in a horse-drawn cart, selling books, listening to everyone's troubles, and writing stories about them. These Jews knew Mendele well--so well that they also knew there was no such person. Mendele the Book Peddlar was the fictional creation of Sholem Jacob Abramovitch.".

Hardcover. Presumed First Edition. Presumed first edition thus, hardcover, has a tiny skew to the binding, sunning to the spine and edges, light bumps to the lower cover corners, a touch of wear to the cloth at the spine ends and corners, and mild toning to the pages. Otherwise, this is a solid, tight, Very Good copy in a Good only dust jacket, which has chips to the spine ends, corners and edges, splitting at the tail of the hinges with flags torn across the spine, sunning to the spine, wear with creased tears to the edges, and rubbing with areas of smudging to all panels. The jacket is wrapped in Mylar to prevent further damage.
