Pamphlet. 34p., illustrated with tables plus photos and diagrammatic renderings of automatic tabulating machines, presswork on glazed alkaline paperstock and staple-bound in 8x5 inch tobacco-brown wraps printed in brown ink. Front cover bears several owner/seller numerals in unerasable pencil, back cover has five tiny punctures similar to but not the same as silverfishing (with odd offsets to terminal leaf beneath each hole. Also find a faint trace of minor dampstain and marginal creasing to terminal leaves. Staples mildly rusted. A good copy. The successive devices to aid tabulation are not your usual book illustrations; these were not present in item's first appearance in The Century, while a few paragraphs in the magazine have been omitted.

Soft cover. Etat : Fine. Cedric Wright, Philip Hyde, David Simmons, Lee Talbot (illustrateur). 1st Edition. Fine, as noted; see description and scans. San Francisco: The Sierra Club, 1957. The June, 1957 issue of The Sierra Club Bulletin, that being Volume 42, Number 6. Octavo, glosst perfect-bound wraps, 92 pp. Fine, as originally received, though as-originally-received in this specific case did include tiny micro wear at the top edge, front cover - barely visible in that scan, which see. Otherwise, flawless. Extraordinarily handsome example. Cover photo, by Cedric Wright, is of the John Muir Trail in the High Sierra; the theme of the issue - Wildlife in Our Civilization - was that of the Fifth Biennial Wildlife Conference, from which most of this issue's content was taken. The SC doing its environmental activism early and often, as it always has, so much better than so many others. There is no "civilization" in the normal sense within, of course; just gorgeous photos by masters like Wright, Philip Hyde, David Simmons and Lee Talbot, with memorable accompanying text (see scan of contents page for details) by those gentlemen as well as David R. Brower, A. Starker Leopold, Lowell Sumner, William Bridge Cook, Don M. Wilson and of course editor August Frugé, on topics including the Northern Cascades, Beavers, Wilderness Fung, Spider Rock and much else. The photography is, of course, a very impressive tour de force by the mentioned foursome. Please see scans. LSC2.
