A collection of forty-five short stories of detection, horror and adventure from a variety of well-known authors, such as E. H. Visiak (1878-1972), Philip Lindsay (1906-1958), Edgar Jepson (1863-1938) and Richard Barham Middleton (1882-1911). Illustrated throughout. Undated, dated through copies held at the British Library. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally sound, with fading to the spine, shelf wear to the boards and spine and faint stains to the rear board. Cloth is splitting at the rear joint and consequently lifting at the head and tail of the spine. Hinges are strained but holding reasonably firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for a scattering of spots to the first and last few pages. Good. book.
