Pages remain bright and clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Pencil inscription to front endpaper. Binding remains firm. Top text block edge dyed blue, with small water drops. Plates are bright and clear, with some light tanning and foxing to edges. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Noticeable tanning to spine and edges with some crushing to spine ends. Spine label is slightly peeling. Book has a slight forward lean.

Biography of the original American glamor girl, the romantic dream of beauty and passion for men of the Gay Nineties, actress and singer Lillian Russell (c. 1860-1922). Born Helen Louise Leonard in Iowa but raised in Chicago, she made her debut on Tony Pastor's New York music hall stage in 1879, performing in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas as well as other entertainments and became the most famous singer in operettas and musical theater in the United States. In 1904, having difficulties with her voice, she switched to dramatic roles but later returned to musical roles in vaudeville, finally retiring in 1919.
