Gerard NOODT (1647-1725) war seit 1686 Professor der Rechte in Leiden, davor hatte er mehrere Stationen in den Niederlande: 1671 Nijmwegen, 1679 Franecker und 1684 Utrecht. Noodt zählt neben Voet, Huber und Vinnius zu den wichtigsten Vertretern der sog. eleganten Jurisprudenz, die sich in der Tradition der Rechtsschule von Bourges verbunden fühlte. Sein Werk über Geldzins und Wucher setzt das Werk von Salmasius fort: Das katholische Zinsverbot in der mittelalterlichen, agrarwirtschaftlich aufgebauten Welt war relativ einfach aufzustellen und durchzusetzen. Die frühkapitalistische Wirtschaftsordnung veränderte die Situation grundlegend, allein der kapitalintensive Buchdruck verlangte nach neuen Lösungen. Ein striktes Zinsverbot vonseiten der katholischen Kirche war beim besten Willen und auch intensiver Gewissensforschung nicht mehr aufrecht zu erhalten. Lebhafte Diskussionen ergriffen den europäischen Raum. Usura (Zins und Wucher) bildete oft den Gegenstand moralischer, religiöser, auch juristischer Bücher. Die wichtigste zinsrechtliche Schrift des 17. Jahrhunderts war das Werk von Claude de Saumaise (Salmasius), der in einem umfangreichen, einleitenden Vorwort einen historischen Überblick über Zins und Wucher gibt. Sprache: lateinisch.

Raccolta degli studi dell'importante giurista olandese Gerhardt Noodt (Nijmegen, 1647 ? 1725). Fu docente proprio a Nijmegen, quindi a Franeker, Utrecht e Leyda, e fu in quest'ultimo ateneo che fu eletto per due volte eletto rettore. Assai stimate le sue ricerche sul diritto romano. 3050 gr.

L'ultima carta del secondo volume, relativa all'indice delle leggi citate, è rilegata in fondo alle carte preliminari del primo volume. Tra le pp. 526 e 527 del I tomo sono inserite 10 interessantissime pagine manoscritte da mano settecentesca contententi i seguenti scritti di Noodt: In oratione de religione ab imperio libera; Responsum in causa matrimoniali, fedelmente trascritti dall'edizione napoletana del 1786. Bellissimo ritratto dell'Autore inciso in rame all'antiporta. Primo frontespizio in rosso e nero. Legatura coeva in piena pergamena con titoli in oro su doppio tassello. Minime mende alla legatura, naturali fioriture dovute alla qualità della carta. Esemplare nel complesso ben conservato. Gerard Noodt (1647-1725), celebre romanista olandese, insegnò a Nimega, Franeker, Utrecht e Leida e fu autore di numerose opere che segnarono una svolta nello studio delle fonti letterarie ed epigrafiche. Premessa la vita dell'A. curata da Barbeyrac si riscontrano i seguenti scritti: Probabilium juris civilis, De jurisdizione et imperio, Ad legem Aquiliam liber singularis, De foenore et usuris, De pactione et transatione criminum, Observationum, De forma emanandi doli mali, De usufructu. De pactis et transationibus liber singularis, Dissertationes quatuor (De civili prudentia, De causis summi Imperii et lege regia, De religione ab imperio jure gentium libera), Responsum in causa matrimoniali, commentari alle Pandette.
