Inside hinges are cracked but still firmly attached. Text and page ends are yellowed due to age. Otherwise clean and unmarked. Illustrated. Frontispiece and numerous illustrations. Issued as No. 43 in the Pinkerton Detective Series - Quarterly. April, 1900. Chipping to spine ends and corners, some writing on title, generally very good otherwise. A very cheaply produced book, the paper is quite browned. Previously published in 1896 as: The Confession of Lorraine Herschel. A Story of Mystery. Oliver was the author of the notoriously rare lost-race fantasy ALMEDA (1889). Listed in Hubin.

With over three-thousand recipes, and house-hold secrets that include for making invisible ink, a curling fluid for a persons hair, Almond Milk, different colour paints, and cement. In original cloth binding. Externally, lightly rubbed and with slight marks. Some shelfwear to the spine. Both hinges have failed. Internally, firmly bound with lightly age toned pages and the odd spot. Small repairs to the title page. Good Only. book.
