Political reform novel; a criminous tale with ambiguous supernaturalism. The Leech Club is a politically powerful secret society composed of crooked politicians, business tycoons and other scoundrels that controls the state and "will one of these days govern the nation." Their headquarters is a castle in the Catskill region of New York state. Considerable action takes place in large caverns under their estate. Reginald 11082. Hubin (1994), p. 622. Wright (II) 1832.
