DJ Bold design in green, yellow, black on speckled off-white. B&W author portrait on back DJ. Individuals on a World War II hospital train, the "little people" who get caught up in war slowly begin to work together in common experience. The war comes and goes; the train grows in worth and meaning to the individuals. With peace, the members are disbanded. But the train has left its mark on each. Awarded the Stalin Prize in 1946.
