Owing to recent damage price reduced - following a fall behind a bookshelf the join to the back cover is broken - though all still tight, but there is also a long tear to the cover where back board meets spine c.4cm long. Formerly in the library of the Yorkshire Archaeological Society the only indications are an impressed stamp on the title page, and a bookplate on the inside back cover. Inside front cover is a bookplate for John Le Kirk, indicating degrees from Christ's, Cambridge and St Georges Hospital - not specified if London or Edinburgh. red-brown pebble grain cloth, with bars top and bottom and gilt lettering to spine. Errata slip bound in at front.

Cover cloth a little rubbed to edges with stain at tail of spine, possibly where a label has been removed. Inner hinges cracked. Pictorial bookplates to front pastedown and ffep; ffep has stain to reverse from bookplate adhesive and damage to paper where a previous plate has been removed. Sporadic foxing mainly to advertisement section at rear. Errata slip loosely inserted.

Cloth soiled with random marks, loss of colour to black section of cloth near spine foot, rubbing to extremes, front hinge paper cracked, marginal age browning to contents.
