Frontcover with a large coloured illustration and bold white type title. 502pp. Syopsis on outer back cover, table of contents. Dutch language novel with strong autobiographical tendency, can be considered as the most important modernis novel at the time of publication in 1935. On one side it contains author's yourh recollections from the Dutch East Indies, however on the other side this novel contains fragments fro author'siary of this stay in Paris during the interbellum in the 1930s. The diary framents are of stron essayist nature leading to reflections about the art of writing. Paperback edition. Very fine copy.
