This volume is part of a celebrated series of Shakespear's plays translated by the best Danish men of letters, and edited by the eminent Danish actor and translator Peter Thun Foersom (1777-1817). 170x110mm. [VIII]+252 pages [+4]. Quarter-cloth black board rebound Hardcover. Gilt spine Cover and spine heavily rubbed. Cover corners and edges bumped and peeling. Ink inscriptions on front endpaper. Pages yellowing, slightly age-stained and wavy. [SUMMARY]: This extremely rare edition of an early Danish translation of Shakespeare's works is in good condition for its age. The book is in : Danish.

Gl. navn (P.B. Scavernius) på titelbladet. * Peter Thun Foersom (1777-1817) var en sin tids fremtrædende danske skuespillere, der også gjorde sig bemærket som forfatter og oversætter. Ikke mindst var han pioner for oversættelsen og opførelsen af Shakespeare på dansk. Denne samlede udgave af hans digte indeholder også en biografi. ** Bogen har sandsynligvis stået i det smukke bibliotek, Peder Brønnum Scavenius (1795-1868) lod indrette på Gjorslev.
