1st Edn, liv 168 pages, 4to., 35 manuscript pages to the rear with pen and ink + water colour text illus of fortification + tables etc., executed in a neat and legible hand. there are also numerous blank pages after the manuscript paper, 3 loose 8vo printed question sheets relating to gun powder, application of artillery description and construction of ordnance. Some spotting to first and last printed pages. Insect damage to end papers and title page and the first 80 pages blank margins at worst 2x2cm decreasing to 2 pin hole size. Original 1/2 leather with gilt title to upper cover, "Fortification Notes R.M.A. R Millett". Leather damaged in places with loss again by insect, binding tight presumably the student was R.M.Millett with his pencil signature to top of title page. COPAC locates 1 copy in the UK at the British Library. The author details "On the arms in use, on military explosives, detonating powder etc" The manuscript relates mostly to fortification.
