Back cover has an advertisement for Sapolio soap. *************************************** CONDITION NEAR VERY GOOD This is a previously owned periodical that has seen considerable use, and displays the evidence of that use, with the following particulars and imperfections noted :: EXTERIOR - Spine is creased with surface wrinkles; foot of spine has loss of paper cover to about half an inch up from the bottom; head of spine has what looks to be the effects of an impact (as if the magazine had been dropped); front cover has , at the bottom center a round, transparent stain; there are small stress creases extending from the spine fold; there are various small marks, smudges, and scuffs - none of which are of any egregious effect; the cover edges display nicking, chipping and small loss (typical of this type of binding and also typical for the paper used. the rear cover is fairly bright, sharing with the front only the fore-edge effects. / BINDING - Still solid - no leaves are detached or loose. / INTERIOR - there is surface wrinkling ( or creasing) to most of the leaves of the issue, commensurate with an impact effect. Scattered leaf edge effects include small loss and irregularities typical of antique. magazines in which the leaves had to first be separated in order to be read. The bottom edges of the leaves are considerably ragged. There are various small spots and smudges of no particular effect, the interior being quite clean.

Von den 767 Heilpräparaten, die in der ?SSR in den Jahren 1968 bis 1970 hergestellt wurden, besassen volle 137 als Grundlage pflanzliche Rohstoffe, und zwar 114 Arten. Am weitesten waren isolierte Wirkstoffe verbreitet, die in 129 Fällen verwendet wurden. Die grösste Anwendung finden Alkaloiddrogen (92 Fälle), Drogen mit ätherischen Ölen (59 Fälle) und Glykosiddrogen (58 Fälle). Auch die letzte Ausgabe des tschechoslowakischen Arzneibuches enthält eine bedeutende Anzahl von Drogen ? 87 einschliesslich einiger animalischer Drogen. Diese und ähnliche Rohstoffe sind auch in der Lebensmittel ? und in der kosmetischen Industrie verbreitet. Hieraus ergibt sich klar die Bedeutung von einfachen, schnellen und genauen Analysen, die nicht nur die Forschungsarbeit, sondern auch die Identitäts- und Qualitätskontrolle der Drogen ermöglichen. Den Beginn der Entwicklung und Anwendung der Dünnschicht-Chromatographie in der Analyse von Drogen bedeuteten die Arbeiten von Stahl, die um das Jahr 1956 erschienen. Seine Handbücher gehören auch heute noch zu den besten (1, 7, 8). Eine Reihe von Autoren benutzte die Dünnschichtchromatographie für das Studium von Inhaltsstoffen von Drogen. Z. B. Wagner (2) gebrauchte dieses Verfahren bei der Untersuchung von Radi? rhei und Hörhammer bei der Untersuchung von Aloe capensis (3). Eine wertvolle Anwendung findet die Dünnschicht-Chromatographie bei der Unterscheidung von echten und geschädigten Drogen. So entwickelten Steinegger und Gebistorf (4) eine Methode zur Erkennung der Schädigung der Drogen Fol. stramonii, hyoscyami und belladonae durch die Arten Xanthium strumarium und Xanthium italicum. Paris und Cubukcu (5) wiederum veröffentlichten eine Methode der Entdeckung des Fälschens von Fol. sennae.
