Hardcover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. Moman Pruiett Criminal Lawyer by Moman Pruiett. Hardcover published in 1944 and printed by Harlow Publishing Company Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. No edition listed, presumed first. Book has been signed on the front endpaper by fellow Oklahoma attorney C,W. Van Eaton who wrote the forward. Signature only. Several nickel sized discolored spots on front board. Cloth starting to fray at both ends of the spine. Previous owners name stamped on front and back endpapers. Some foxing to page ends. Binding is solid. Author was a long time attorney in early Oklahoma who boasts that of 343 cases that he tried for murder 303 of his clients were acquitted, none were ever executed, and only one received a death sentence which was later commuted by the President of the United States. For further information read the article posted by the Oklahoma Historical Society. Mr. Pruiett was most definitely an interesting, larger than life character.

Hardcover. Etat : Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Blue cloth. 580pp. Illust/photos. Frontispiece of Pruiett. fos of C. E. Dudley (1945) on front paste down. One of the most remarkable lawyers to practice law in the West & certainly in Oklahoma, & a champion read! From the title page: "The life story of the man who defended 343 persons charged with murder. The record shows 303 acquittals and the only client to hear the death sentence pronounced was saved by Presidential clemency." I believe it is accurate to say that the authorship & publication of the book was in dispute, & the reasons are too elaborate to present in this space. This copy vg. Some sort of a gift presentation dated Dec. 9, 1944, has been marked over with a black crayon. Pencil note at inscriptions says "see page 57". The inscription is very likely referring to someone on that page. Part of inscription says, "able assistant". Otherwise this copy is clean & tight. There is some fading to the covers, but the fading to the backstrip is much less than usually found on these books. Very scarce. No dj (I have never seen a dj for this book).
