Large octavo, [xiv], 1512pp. boards. First edition. Similar in scope and format, Reginald's 1992 continuation of his Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature: A Checklist, 1700-1974 . (1979) provides 21,768 bibliographical records for books and pamphlets published from 1975 to 1991, including several hundred that constitute the addendum to the 1700-1974 period. Some entries from the 1979 edition are repeated when new information has been discovered, and some author information is amended. Following the author index are title index, series index, doubles index, and awards index. Contemporary Science Fiction Authors was not continued in the 1992 edition. Although there are omissions, especially from the period 1800 to 1948 (understandable considering a work of this size and differing opinions on what is and what is not fantastic), this bibliography comes close to being the essential checklist of English-language fantastic literature. "Easily the most authoritative and comprehensive general bibliography of English-language fantastic literature." - Anatomy of Wonder (1995) 7-8. Burgess, Reference Guide to Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror 182. A fine copy without dust jacket as issued. (#138203).

Large octavo, two volumes: pp. [i-viii] ix-xi [xii] [1-2] 3-786 [787-788: blank] [note: last leaf is a blank]; [i-viii] 789-1141 [1142-1148: blank] [note: last three leaves are blanks], double columns, cloth. First edition. The most comprehensive general bibliography of science fiction, fantasy, and horror literature (including nonfiction related to the study of the genres), providing a checklist of 15,884 English-language first editions of books and pamphlets (including translations) published from 1700 to 1974. The author entries typically furnish author's name, birth and death dates, title, publisher, place and year of publication, number of pages and format, type of book, series notation, and bibliographical note. The biographical volume provides 1443 sketches of science fiction and fantasy writers of the modern period, many incorporating comments by the subject author. Although there are omissions, especially from the period 1800 to 1948 (understandable considering a work of this size and differing opinions on what is and what is not fantastic), this bibliography comes close to being the essential checklist of English-language fantastic literature. Anatomy of Wonder (1995) 7-8. Burgess, Reference Guide to Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror 182. A fine set without dust jackets as issued. (#138204).
