Edition originale
FINE. Pocket sized brown cloth boards. Black titling, gold cover illustration. Undated. 192pp. The book is a second generation revelation of the inner secrets of the Masons traditions, rituals and ideas. The Author's Preface indicates the book is being published some 35 years after William Morgan's similar work, which is historically known to have been published 1827. That placed this book as first editioned circa 1862. Historical records actually place the first edition as being printed 1860 by Lawrence Fitzgerald, NY. Next, David McKay Company was not formed until 1882. Though some guestimates by other book dealers place the undated McKay edition as being circa 1910, the book is in font and layout more akin to 19th century styling, placing it more accurately from the years 1882-1899. Notably, this copy is in nearly as-published condition, full titling, illustrations, sharp points. This is an amazing expose of Masonic rituals, imagery, and secret rites. An important publication and unparalleled in condition. [B125].
