ONLY EDITION of this collection of poems and fragments by Ronsard, many of which had never before been printed. Also includes the FIRST PRINTING of Guillaume Colletet's extensive account of Ronsard's life, written shortly after the poet's death. 5 leaves; 308 pp. plus 2 plates. Edition limited to 200 copies in this format (there were an additional 25 copies printed in large folio), of which this is ONE OF ONLY TEN COPIES PRINTED ON COLORED WOVE PAPER (this copy printed on beige "papier chamois") with an extra impression on Chinese paper of each of the engraved illustrations. From the collection of noted bibliophile and writer Jules Janin, with his bookplate. Laumonier (pp. 78-80) devotes a long and well-annotated article to this publication, specifying exactly what had and what hadn't previously appeared in print. 8vo. Beautifully bound in quarter polished calf and decorated boards. Spine elaborately gilt in six compartments. Slight traces of wear to extremities, else FINE AND BRIGHT.
