A collection of poems by Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882), an Italian-English poet, painter, illustrator, and translator. Dante had three siblings, Christina Rossetti (1830-1894), William Michael Rossetti (1829-1919), and Maria Francesca Rossetti (1827-1876). Edited with a Preface by William M. Rossetti. In his Preface, William briefly describes the life of his brother and offers a detailed description of Dante's physical appearance, personality, and habits. While Dante is well-known for interweaving his paintings and poetry, William writes that Dante had considered himself a poet more than a painter. Dante, Christina, William, and Maria all had successful careers in the arts and letters. Christina became a poet, William became an author and critic (and is the editor and writer of the Preface in this book), and Maria became an author. Notably, Dante and William were two of the co-founders of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
